Henry Munro School Council

Your School Council plays an important role in your child’s education. The Council raises money to support your child’s education in the classroom and outside the class. Through fundraising, the Council has paid for things such as drums for music class, extra educational materials that the teachers needed, school buses for field trips, and to support the HMMS basketball team and the HMMS play to name a few.

Elections to this year’s HMMS School Council took place on Tuesday, September 25 at 7 pm in the school library.    All parents were eligible to vote and to stand for election as Council members and for the offices of chair, secretary, treasurer and other specific responsibilities. There still is room on School Council for members-at-large. All parents are invited to attend Council meetings to learn about what is happening in their children’s school but only Council members can vote on decisions. Come out and share your ideas and energy with us.

If you wish to stand for election, please fill-in the School Council Parent Self Nomination form attached to this newsletter. If you wish to nominate another parent for a position on Council, please fill-in the School Council Parent Candidate Nomination form also attached to this newsletter. Completed forms should be returned directly or faxed to Jeremy Nowiski, Vice-Principal, Henry Munro Middle School at 613-749-3187. You can obtain copies of the nomination forms from the school office or by clicking on these links:

Parent Volunteers Needed

The Henry Munro Middle School is an active and energetic body that advocates on behalf of the school community in the operation, maintenance and performance of the school. Our goal is to enhance the educational experience for all students so that each individual can reach his or her potential in a welcoming environment that is conducive to learning.

WE NEED YOUR HELP! Every year Council compiles a list of volunteers to call upon to help out at the various events and behind the scenes. Examples of activities that require volunteers include the Meet the Teacher BBQ, the Pizza Lunch Program, Hoops for Heat, the Grade 8 Farewell as well as baking items for bake sales and managing the Council’s website. Please consider volunteering your time in whatever way you can either at the school or at home!

If you are interested in helping at the school, please fill out the Volunteer Form and return it to the school. Our list is kept confidential and will only be used for School Council activities. Thank you.
